Bolam Lake
Bolam Lake Country Park is situated in the heart of the beautiful Northumberland countryside surrounded by historic landscapes and dramatic views. It lies about nine miles west of Morpeth and is signposted off the A696 from Belsay.
Country Park
There are a variety of woodland and lake view walks throughout the park, including a fully accessible path around the lakeshore. The Visitor Centre is a good starting point for your visit and is open every weekend and school holidays from 10.30 am. There is a shop which sells gifts, books and distributes leaflets. There is also a cafe serving sandwiches, soup and cakes. There are 3 car parks for which there is a charge.
All common woodland birds are present and often allow excellent close views of Nuthatch and tit flocks at the car park and a new bird hide has been built here in 2019. Probably at its most interesting in winter with the possibility of smew and other sawbills being present along with flocks of fieldfare, redwing and brambling. The feeding station attracts nuthatch and great-spotted woodpecker along with red squirrel which are here in good numbers.
